Why to Eat locally sourced food items.

🤔Why should we opt for locally grown fruits and vegetables?

✅Eat locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables as they have short shelf life.

✅Eating food items locally available are more in sync with nature of people living there as they are habitual of eating them from generations.

✅Nature provide things according to demand of that particular region.

✅To transport fruit and vegetables artificial methods are used to increase their shelf life which compromise their nutritional value

✅Also when fruits and vegetables comes by traveling long distance their vata dosha increases and when we consume them they might increase vata dosha in us.

✅When many people want particular food from particular region it promotes harmful practices like use of chemical fertilizers to increase yield which is not good for the health of both humans and environment .

🤔Which all food items can be consumed from distant places??

✅Pulses, grains, nuts and spices which has long shelf life and do not require artificial preservation methods can be consumed from distant places.

✅Things that do not lose their nutritional value by change in place, temperature and humidity can be consumed.

🤔In which condition distantly grown things can be consumed?

✅Places where due to extreme climatic conditions many things do not grow then people living there can have things transported from other places.

✅There are three types of land according to ayurveda jangal(dry land like marwar region of Rajasthan ) , anup(marshy land like West Bengal ) and sadharan( balanced land like Uttar Pradesh ) and properties of food depends on land where it grows like crops grown in Rajasthan are vata increasing, light and dry in nature on the other hand west Bengal crops are heavy and kapha increasing.

✅So when someone living in anup desh and suffering from kapha disorders then locally grown food can increase his kapha, for him long shelf life things procured from jangal desh is good to balance kapha dosha .

👉So food items which have short shelf life should be procured locally and items which have long shelf life can be procured from far away places as well.
