Prepare and use kadha (Decoction) in correct way.

Kashayam or kadha ( Decoction)

👉Kwath, kashayam or kadha is a ayurvedic form of medicine.☘️

👉In ayurveda there are many ways by which herbs are given orally🌿 .

👉Like herb juice, paste, powder, tablets, ghrit, oil, fermentated syrup etc.🌼

👉Kashayam is one such way in which one or combination of many herbs according to requirement boiled with water.🔥

👉It can be easily made at home.😃

👉By boiling in water, water soluble active principle of herb which is responsible for its effectiveness comes in water which is easily absorbed by intestine. 👌

👉 No doubt kwath is bitter in taste but it is most effective way of herb administration that is why it is essential part of ayurvedic treatment. 🌷

👉 Kwath is fast acting compared to tablets or powder. 👍

👉Other than oral intake, kwath is also used in washing eyes(Triphala kwath) , wounds and in many ayurvedic therapies.

❓How to make kwath at home ?

🌷Take fresh or shade dried herb, crushed them to form coarse powder boil 1 part of herb with 8 parts of water till it reduces to 1/4th.
Example – 10gms of herbs + 80 ml of water – boil🔥- reduce to 20 ml.

🌷To make it more concentrated it can be reduced to 1 /8 th part.

🌷Soak dry herbs coarse powder er in water overnight or at least 2-3 hours.
🌷 Use wide mouth vessel.

🌷Do not cover the vessel while making kwath. ❌

🌷Boil on mild flame. ☑️
🌷Do not reheat it. ❌
🌷Do not reuse herbs. ❌
🌷Use it with 5-6 hours of preparation. ☑️
🌷 Honey, jaggery, sugar or mishri can also added before drinking .

❓How to take kwath?? 🤔

🌻Take it empty stomach for maximum benefits but if someone can’t tolerate it then it can also be taken after food.
🌻Drink warm kwath. 🍵
🌻Dose – 20-40 ml in one dose.

How to take market available kwath❓? 🤔

🌺Many ayurvedic pharmaceutical companies make kwath which are concentrated so use them by mixing in equal amount of warm water.

🌺Many pharmacies also make kwath tablets which is easy to take for those who cannot take liquid.
